The About Page
What is Brake Magazine?
Brake Magazine is a video focussed digital media channel. In short, we make long form video content centred in the motorcycle market, with a heavy bias toward adventure travel.
Brake Magazine started as a fledgling idea in May 2015; a website with beautiful images, storied writing and a deep level of passion for creating content worth people’s time. Over the next five years it evolved with the social media space and has grown into a cornerstone of Adventure Motorcycle content on Youtube.
Llewellyn (Llel) Pavey
Brake Magazine is owned and presented by myself, Llel Pavey. Brake is the natural end point of a career that started as an enthusiastic, dirt bike loving teenage apprentice. After two years as a photographic assistant for legendary Enduro photographer Jonty Edmunds, I set out on my own journey, creating enduro focussed content for magazines and websites across the world.
During this period I also set out to race dirt bikes as much as I could. National Enduro Championships, Hard Enduros and Rallies. If it happened somewhere interesting, I’d try and go. A Dakar Rally finish, a Romaniacs Silver class finish, the Taklimakan rally in China, Portugal, Dubai, a dozen front covers, years of stories, and some incredible experiences later, Brake Magazine was born.
I was incredibly fortunate to teach at BMW Off Road Skills for nearly 14 years too. It developed a deep, nuanced understanding of off-road riding technique. I taught over 1000 customers to ride from complete novice, to highly competent off-road riders and led adventure holidays around the world.
More than a decade since Brake began, I find myself a story teller. Making videos that are for the audience and it’s an incredible job. The goal of Brake Magazine is clear; to not waste our audience’s time and to make stories worth sitting down to watch, learn from and be inspired by.
